University of Iowa – HR Generalist: College of Engineering Job Opportunity
The University of Iowa’s College of Engineering is seeking a self-motivated, dynamic, and collaborative human resources professional to serve as HR Generalist. This position is responsible for executing a wide range of HR responsibilities from a collaborative, customer-service oriented perspective. As an advocate for all who work in the College, this role helps ensure a collegiate culture that promotes excellence, inclusion, and well-being. This position assists in the implementation of HR strategy by supporting the recruitment, development, and retention of a talented, diverse, and engaged workforce of nearly 600 faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and post-doctoral researchers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 1 year of experience performing a range of human resources responsibilities/functions in a complex and/or high-profile organization with multiple departments/units
Working knowledge of contemporary human resource principles, practices and processes and current federal and state laws, statues, regulations, policies, and directives pertaining to human resources
A strong customer service orientation;
Superior interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build collaborative, productive, and trusted professional relationships with a wide variety of constituents
Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail;
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and ability to work effectively and collaboratively at all levels of an organization.
Desirable Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field;
Professional experience in an academic and/or research-centric organization;
PHR, SHRM-CP or other professional certification.
