Matthew specializes in providing benefits & HR consulting services for mid-market employers. He
is responsible for providing strategic planning and risk management support while assisting his
clients with controlling and minimizing the total cost of healthcare. He believes our job as a
consultant is truly to understand the client, and the needs or gaps in the current programs to
provide the right recommendations to support business growth.
Experience
Matthew began his career in commercial banking as a credit analyst and ended up joining Gallagher
in 2019. He brings a foundation of business and financial underwriting that translates into helping
employers evaluate their risk as it relates to insurance.
Matthew transitioned into the insurance industry as a member of Gallagher’s Career Advancement
Program. This is a program designed for young leaders wanting to reinvent the world of insurance.
His team-oriented philosophy aligns well with the Gallagher Way and has helped him contribute to a
results-driven approach for our clients. Matthew is dedicated to serving our clients through
honesty, transparency, and proactive planning.
Matthew obtained his B.S. in Business Administration from Morningside University. He was a scholar
athlete at Morningside balancing academics and basketball. Matthew has a passion for nonprofits and
early education and is an active board member for Polk County Early Childhood of Iowa, as well as
an Alumni of the Greater Des Moines Community Connect Program.
Matthew resides in West Des Moines, Iowa and enjoys spending quality time with his wife Miranda and
doq Maizv.

In this presentation, we will challenge traditional ways of thinking about employee benefits and explore innovative approaches that can revolutionize how we design and implement these programs. We will discuss the limitations of traditional benefits, the importance of aligning them with the changing needs of the workforce, and strategies for embracing flexibility, customization, and holistic well-being. Through real-life examples and insights, we will inspire you to overcome challenges and gain buy-in from stakeholders. Join us on this journey of innovation to create employee benefits that drive success and satisfaction in the modern workforce.

Learning Objectives
Participants should gain an increased awareness and understanding of:

  • Understand the limitations of traditional employee benefits: Participants will gain insight into the shortcomings of traditional employee benefits programs and how they may no longer meet the diverse needs and expectations of today’s workforce. They will learn to identify areas where traditional thinking may be holding back their organization’s benefits strategy.

 

  • Explore innovative approaches to employee benefits: Participants will explore a range of innovative and strategies for reimagigning employee benefits. This includes embracing flexibility and customization, leveraging data and insights, and adopting a holistic approach that considers physical, mental, and financial well-being. They will gain practical ideas and inspiration for designing benefits programs that better align with the evolving needs of employees.

 

  • Embrace challenges and question the status quo: Participants will develop a mindset of embracing challenges and questioning the status quo when it comes to employee benefits. They will learn to recognize the potential drawbacks of keeping things the same and will understand the importance of continuously challenging and evolving their benefit strategies. They will leave with a renewed sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore alternative approaches, ultimately fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within their organization.
